An act relating to the Town of Southwest Ranches, 2
Broward County; providing an exception to general law; 3
prohibiting the sale and use of fireworks located 4
within the Town of Southwest Ranches; providing an 5
exception and applicability; providing an effective 6
date. 7

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 9

Section 1. Notwithstanding ss. 791.001 and 791.08, Florida 11
Statutes, the sale and use of fireworks within the Town of 12
Southwest Ranches may be prohibited by the Town on all days of 13
the year except for the following: 14
(1) Supervised public displays within the jurisdictional 15
boundaries of the Town of Southwest Ranches where such displays 16
are handled by a competent operator to be approved by the chiefs 17
of the police and fire departments of the Town, and shall be of 18
a character, and so located, discharged, or fired as in the 19
opinion of the chief of the fire department, after proper 20
inspection, shall not be hazardous to property or endanger any 21
person or farm animal. Application for permits shall be made to 22
the Town in writing at least 15 days in advance of the date of 23
the display. After such privilege shall have been granted, 24
sales, possession, use, and distribution of fireworks for such 25

display shall be lawful for that purpose only. Permits granted 26
hereunder shall not be transferable. 27
(2) Nothing herein is intended to or shall prevent the 28
importation, purchase, sale, or use of fireworks for 29
agricultural purposes pursuant to s. 791.07, Florida Statutes. 30
Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. 31
