3030 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 17

3232 Section 1. (1) Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, a 19
3333 tax collector may not include on any form sent out by the 20
3434 office, or assess or collect, any fees, charges, taxes, or other 21
3535 assessments, however labeled, for the delinquent payment of any 22
3636 portion of the property tax bill, if a person is: 23
3737 (a) Age 65 or older and is a low -income person or lives in 24
3838 a low-income household as those terms are defined in s. 25

5252 (b) A public school teacher whose annual salary is less 27

5454 (2) Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, a tax 29
5555 collector may not authorize a debt collection entity to collect 30
5656 outstanding fees, charges, taxes, or o ther assessments, however 31
5757 labeled, for the delinquent payment of any portion of the 32
5858 property tax bill, for a person who is age 65 or older and is a 33
5959 low-income person or lives in a low -income household as those 34
6060 terms are defined in s. 420.9071, Florida Stat utes. 35
6161 (3) A tax collector or his or her designee may not sell a 36
6262 tax certificate on property owned by a person who is age 65 or 37
6363 older and is a low-income person or lives in a low -income 38
6464 household as those terms are defined in s. 420.9071, Florida 39
6565 Statutes, if the only portion of the tax bill that remains 40
6666 unpaid are fees, charges, taxes, or other assessments, however 41
6767 labeled, for the delinquent payment of any portion of the 42

6969 (4) The Department of Revenue shall work with the tax 44
7070 collectors of the state to identify mechanisms, strategies, and 45
7171 funding sources that may be utilized to assist persons 46
7272 identified in paragraph (1)(a) with the payment of outstanding 47
7373 fees, charges, taxes, or other assessments, however labeled, 48
7474 related to the delinqu ent payment of any portion of a property 49
