requiring an animal abuser to pay a certain fee upon 3
registration and annual renewal with the animal abuser 4
registry; providing for distribution of funds; 5
providing a contingent effective date. 6

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 8

Section 1. Paragraph (c) of subsection (3) of section 10
943.0425, Florida Statutes, as created by HB 1341, is amended to 11
read: 12
943.0425 Animal abuser registration. — 13
(3) 14
(c) A registered abuser shall personally appear at the 15
sheriff's office in the county in which he or she resides to 16
renew his or her registration information annually on the 17
anniversary date of his or her initial registration or, if his 18
or her anniversary date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal 19
holiday, on the first business day following his or her 20
anniversary date. At such time, the registered abuser's 21
photograph and information sha ll be reviewed to verify accuracy. 22
The abuser shall pay a fee of $25 for initial registration and 23
each annual renewal with the registry. The sheriff's office 24
shall retain $10 of each fee collected and the reminder shall be 25

forwarded monthly to the departme nt to help pay the 26
administrative and maintenance costs of maintaining the 27
registry. 28
Section 2. This act shall take effect on the same date 29
that HB 1341 or similar legislation takes effect , if such 30
legislation is adopted in the same legislative sessi on or an 31
extension thereof and becomes a law. 32
