A resolution commending the Tampa Bay Lightning for 2
their outstanding performance in the 2020 -2021 3
National Hockey League season and winning the Stanley 4

WHEREAS, in Game 5 of the 2021 Stanley Cup Finals, the 7
Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Montreal Canadiens by a score 8
of 1-0 at Amalie Arena in Tampa, and 9
WHEREAS, over its 29 seasons, the Tampa Bay Lightning has 10
made the Stanley Cup playoffs 13 times and advanced to the 11
Stanley Cup Finals four times, where it has won three 12
championships, and 13
WHEREAS, the Tampa Bay Lightning won back -to-back titles in 14
2020 and 2021, making it the first team to do so since the 15
Pittsburgh Penguins in 2016 and 2017 and inclu ding it in an 16
elite group of fewer than 10 other franchises to accomplish such 17
a feat, and 18
WHEREAS, at a private team event on October 21, 2021, each 19
member of the Tampa Bay Lightning was honored with the 20
presentation of a spectacular championship ring in recognition 21
of these two consecutive victories, boldly commemorating the 22
team's place in Stanley Cup history, and 23

WHEREAS, since the start of the 2014 -2015 season, no other 24
National Hockey League team has won more regular season or 25
playoff games than the Tampa Bay Lightning, and 26
WHEREAS, the Tampa Bay Lightning's 2021 Stanley Cup victory 27
brings to Tampa Bay and the State of Florida the oldest 28
professional sports trophy in North America, which was named 29
after Lord Stanley of Preston and is among the most famous 30
trophies in the sporting world, NOW, THEREFORE, 31

That the Tampa Bay Lightning players, coaches, managers, 36
and owners are recognized and congratulated for winning the 2021 37
Stanley Cup, making Tampa Bay, for the third time, the home of 38
the best professional ice hockey team in North America. 39
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be 40
presented to the Tampa Bay Lightning as a tangible token of the 41
sentiments expressed herein. 42
