1818 leading cause of death in the United States, and 7
1919 WHEREAS, from 2019 to 2020, deaths from heart disease 8
2020 increased by 4.8 percent, the largest increase in heart disease 9
2121 deaths since 2012, and 10
2222 WHEREAS, the global COVID -19 pandemic poses a significantly 11
2323 high risk to individuals with cardiovascular disease and other 12
2424 risk factors, and 13
2525 WHEREAS, individuals in the United States have made great 14
2626 progress in reducing the death rate for cardiovascular disease, 15
2727 but this progress has been more modest with respect to the death 16
2828 rate for cardiovascular disease in women and minorities, and 17
2929 WHEREAS, cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of 18
3030 women in the United States, killing more women than all forms of 19
