| 23 | 23 | | Section 1. Section 836.131, Florida Statutes, is created 10 |

| 25 | 25 | | 836.131 Falsely personating another. — 12 |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (1) A person may not knowingly perform an act as if he or 13 |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | she were another person that, if done by the other person, could 14 |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | reasonably be expected subject such other person to: 15 |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | (a) Civil or criminal liability; or 16 |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | (b) Any other liability, charge, forfeiture, or pena lty, 17 |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | 18 |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | if such act was performed with the intent to unlawfully gain a 19 |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | benefit for herself, himself, or another person or to injure or 20 |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | defraud another person. 21 |

| 35 | 35 | | (2) A person who violates this section commits a felony of 22 |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | the third degree punishable as provide d in s. 775.082, s. 23 |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | 775.083, or s. 775.084. 24 |

| 38 | 38 | | Section 2. This act shall take effect October 1, 2023. 25 |
