2121 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 8

2323 Section 1. Section 836.131, Florida Statutes, is created 10
2424 to read: 11
2525 836.131 Falsely personating another. — 12
2626 (1) A person may not knowingly perform an act as if he or 13
2727 she were another person that, if done by the other person, could 14
2828 reasonably be expected subject such other person to: 15
2929 (a) Civil or criminal liability; or 16
3030 (b) Any other liability, charge, forfeiture, or pena lty, 17

3232 if such act was performed with the intent to unlawfully gain a 19
3333 benefit for herself, himself, or another person or to injure or 20
3434 defraud another person. 21
3535 (2) A person who violates this section commits a felony of 22
3636 the third degree punishable as provide d in s. 775.082, s. 23
3737 775.083, or s. 775.084. 24
3838 Section 2. This act shall take effect October 1, 2023. 25
