A bill to be entitled 1 
An act relating to time limitations for prosecution of 2 
certain sexual offenses; amending s. 775.15, F.S.; 3 
revising the time limitations for prosecution of 4 
specified sexual battery offenses committed on victims 5 
18 years of age or older in certain circumstances; 6 
providing applicability; providing an effective date. 7 
 8 
Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 9 
 10 
 Section 1.  Subsection (14) o f section 775.15, Florida 11 
Statutes, is amended to read: 12 
 775.15  Time limitations; general time limitations; 13 
exceptions.— 14 
 (14)(a)  A prosecution for a first or second degree felony 15 
violation of s. 794.011, if the victim is 16 years of age or 16 
older at the time of the offense and the offense is reported to 17 
a law enforcement agency within 72 hours after commission of the 18 
offense, may be commenced at any time. 19 
 (b)  A prosecution for a first or second degree felony 20 
violation of s. 794.011, if the victim is 18 years of age or 21 
older at the time of the offense and the offense is reported to 22 
a law enforcement agency or a person acting within the scope of 23 
his or her practice who is licensed under chapter 458, chapter 24 
459, chapter 490, or chapter 491 within 21 days a fter commission 25

of the offense, may be commenced at any time. This paragraph 26 
applies to an offense that is committed on or after July 1, 27 
2023. 28 
 (c)(b) Except as provided in paragraph (a) , or paragraph 29 
(13)(b), or subsection (20), a prosecution for a first or second 30 
degree felony violation of s. 794.011, if the victim is 16 years 31 
of age or older at the time of the offense, must be commenced 32 
within 8 years after the violation is committed. This paragraph 33 
applies to any such offense except an offense the pros ecution of 34 
which would have been barred by subsection (2) on or before July 35 
1, 2015. 36 
 Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2023. 37
