2323 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the Stat e of Florida: 10

2525 Section 1. Section 395.1013, Florida Statutes, is created 12

2727 395.1013 Smoke evacuation systems required. — 14
2828 (1) As used in this section, the term: 15
2929 (a) "Smoke evacuation system" means equipment that 16
3030 effectively captures, filters , and eliminates surgical smoke at 17
3131 the site of origin before the smoke makes contact with the eyes 18
3232 or respiratory tract of occupants in the room. 19
3333 (b) "Surgical smoke" means the gaseous byproduct produced 20
3434 by energy-generating devices such as lasers and el ectrosurgical 21
3535 devices. The term includes, but is not limited to, surgical 22
3636 plume, smoke plume, bio -aerosols, laser-generated airborne 23
3737 contaminants, and lung -damaging dust. 24
3838 (2) By January 1, 2024, each licensed facility shall adopt 25
