Section 787.063, Florida Statutes, is created 10 to read: 11 787.063 Authorized uses of the Trust Fund for Victi ms of 12 Human Trafficking.—Funds from the Trust Fund for Victims of 13 Human Trafficking, created under s. 787.062, may be used for at 14 least all of the following purposes: 15 (1) Educating the public about the recruitment, 16 trafficking, and exploitation of person s through human 17 trafficking. 18 (2) Assisting in the prevention of recruitment in Florida 19 schools of minors for exploitation. 20 (3) Establishing a survivors' resource center to make 21 available to survivors of human trafficking information about 22 services and resources, including legal services, social 23 services, safe harbors, safe houses, and language services. 24 (4) Assisting in the coordination between law enforcement 25 HB 649 2023 CODING: Words stricken are deletions; words underlined are additions. hb0649-00 Page 2 of 2 F L O R I D A H O U S E O F R E P R E S E N T A T I V E S agencies and service providers. 26 (5) Providing information concerning a petition for 27 expunction of a criminal history record resulting from the 28 arrest or filing of charges for an offense committed or reported 29 to have been committed while the person was a victim of human 30 trafficking which is filed pursuant to s. 943.0583. 31 (6) Providing financia l assistance for the cost of 32 expunction of a criminal history record as provided in 33 subsection (5). 34 (7) Providing financial assistance for the cost of legal 35 services to defend against criminal charges resulting from the 36 arrest or filing of charges for an offense committed or reported 37 to have been committed while the person was a victim of human 38 trafficking. 39 Section 2. This act shall take effect on the same date 40 that HB 647 or similar legislation takes effect , if such 41 legislation is adopted in the sa me legislative session or an 42 extension thereof and becomes a law. 43
