Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 8

Section 1. Section 944.092, Florida Statutes, is created 10
to read: 11
944.092 Air conditioning in inma te housing.— 12
(1) Each state correctional institution shall provide a 13
portable air conditioner or air -cooling system in each inmate 14
housing unit adequate in size and number to each dormitory or 15
sleeping area and maintain same in good working order at all 16
times. 17
(2) Funds for the purchase and maintenance of the portable 18
air conditioners or air -cooling systems required by subsection 19
(1) shall be provided from funds appropriated to the department 20
in the General Appropriations Act. 21
Section 2. This act sh all take effect July 1, 2024. 22
