2424 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 11

2626 Section 1. Paragraph (m) of subsection (1) of section 13
2727 121.055, Florida Statutes, is amended to read: 14
2828 121.055 Senior Management Service Class. —There is hereby 15
2929 established a separate class of memb ership within the Florida 16
3030 Retirement System to be known as the "Senior Management Service 17
3131 Class," which shall become effective February 1, 1987. 18

3333 (m)1. Effective July 1, 2020, participation in the Senior 20
3434 Management Service Class is compulsory for eac h appointed 21
3535 criminal conflict and civil regional counsel and each district's 22
3636 assistant regional counsel chiefs, administrative directors, and 23

5151 Management Service Class is compulso ry for each district's 26
5252 assistant regional counsel supervisors. 27
5353 3.2. A Senior Management Service Class member under this 28
5454 paragraph may purchase additional retirement credit in the class 29
5555 for creditable service within the purview of the Senior 30
5656 Management Service Class retroactive to October 1, 2007, and may 31
5757 upgrade retirement credit for such service in accordance with 32
5858 paragraph (j). However, this service credit may not be purchased 33
5959 by the employer on behalf of the member. 34
6060 Section 2. For the 2024-2025 fiscal year, the sum of 35
6161 $950,000 in recurring funds is appropriated from the General 36
6262 Revenue Fund to the offices of the Criminal Conflict and Civil 37
6363 Regional Counsel for the purpose of paying retirement benefits 38
6464 for specified positions within those offices. 39
6565 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2024. 40
