1919 WHEREAS, President Donald J. Trump, in Executive Order 7
2020 14159, titled "Protecting the American People Against Invasion", 8
2121 ordered the Secretary of Homeland Security to work with state 9
2222 and local law enforcement agencies across the United Sta tes to 10
2323 ensure their assistance with the protection of the American 11

2525 WHEREAS, President Trump ordered the Secretary of Homeland 13
2626 Security to enter into 287(g) agreements, under the Immigration 14
2727 and Nationality Act, 8 U.S.C. s. 1357, with state and local law 15
2828 enforcement agencies to perform the functions of immigration 16
2929 officers by assisting the Federal Government with the 17
3030 investigation, apprehension, and detention of illegal aliens, 18

3232 WHEREAS, President Trump ordered the Secretary of Homeland 20
3333 Security to structure 287(g) agreements in the manner that 21
3434 provides the most effective model for state and local law 22
3535 enforcement agencies to assist the Federal Government in 23

4848 WHEREAS, in response to the border crisis, th e Legislature 25
4949 passed enhanced state laws to combat illegal immigration, making 26
5050 Florida a national leader in fighting illegal immigration, and 27
5151 WHEREAS, Senate Bill 1808 (2022) required county 28
5252 correctional facilities to enter into 287(g) agreements with the 29
5353 Federal Government, and 30
5454 WHEREAS, to better assist state and local law enforcement 31
5555 agencies, the Secretary of Homeland Security and the Federal 32
5656 Government should provide such agencies with guidance and 33
5757 training opportunities, and 34
5858 WHEREAS, Florida is read y to provide assistance, as this 35
5959 state is home to robust, highly qualified, strategic, year -round 36
6060 assets for law enforcement training, including the Camp Blanding 37
6161 Joint Training Center in which the taxpayers have made 38
6262 significant investments to establish i t as the premier training 39
6363 facility in the Southeastern United States, and 40
6464 WHEREAS, this state's training facilities are available and 41
6565 prepared to meet the anticipated training and operational needs 42
6666 of state and local law enforcement agencies entering into 287(g) 43
