3030 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 17

3232 Section 1. Paragraph (f) of subsection (4) of section 19
3333 1001.42, Florida Statutes, is amended to read: 20
3434 1001.42 Powers and duties of district school board. —The 21
3535 district school board, acting as a board, shall exercise all 22
3636 powers and perform all duties listed below: 23
3737 (4) ESTABLISHMENT, ORGANIZATION, AND OPERATION OF 24
3838 SCHOOLS.—Adopt and provide for the execution of plans for the 25

5151 establishment, organization, and operation of the s chools of the 26
5252 district, including, but not limited to, the following: 27
5353 (f) Opening and closing of schools; fixing uniform date ; 28

6464 coaches, and other stakeholders, about the health, safety, and 39
6565 academic impacts of sleep deprivation on middle school and high 40
6666 school students and the benefits of a later school start time 41
6767 and discuss local strategies to successfully implement the later 42
