2323 Section 1. Subsection (2) of section 1007.271, Florida 10
2424 Statutes, is amended to read: 11
2525 1007.271 Dual enrollment programs. — 12
2626 (2)(a) For the purpose of this section, an eligible 13
2727 secondary student is a student who is enrolled in : 14
2828 1. Any of grades 6 through 12 in a Florida public school 15
2929 or in a Florida private school that is in compliance with s. 16
3030 1002.42(2) and provides a secondary c urriculum pursuant to s. 17
3131 1003.4282; or 18
3232 2. If such student is between the ages of 16 and 18 and 19
3333 working toward a standard high school diploma, an adult 20
3434 education program. 21
3535 (b) Students who are eligible for dual enrollment pursuant 22
3636 to this section may en roll in dual enrollment courses conducted 23
3737 during school hours, after school hours, and during the summer 24
3838 term. However, if the student is projected to graduate from high 25

5151 school before the scheduled completion date of a postsecondary 26
5252 course, the student may not register for that course through 27
5353 dual enrollment. The student may apply to the postsecondary 28
5454 institution and pay the required registration, tuition, and fees 29
5555 if the student meets the postsecondary institution's admissions 30
5656 requirements under s. 1007.26 3. Instructional time for dual 31
5757 enrollment may vary from 900 hours; however, the full -time 32
5858 equivalent student membership value shall be subject to the 33
5959 provisions in s. 1011.61(4). A student enrolled as a dual 34
6060 enrollment student is exempt from the payment of registration, 35
6161 tuition, and laboratory fees. Applied academics for adult 36
6262 education instruction, developmental education, and other forms 37
6363 of precollegiate instruction, as well as physical education 38
6464 courses that focus on the physical execution of a skill rat her 39
6565 than the intellectual attributes of the activity, are ineligible 40
6666 for inclusion in the dual enrollment program. Recreation and 41
6767 leisure studies courses shall be evaluated individually in the 42
6868 same manner as physical education courses for potential 43
6969 inclusion in the program. 44
7070 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2025. 45
