substances by paramedics; amending s. 893.05, F.S.; 3
authorizing a practitioner to cause a certified 4
paramedic to administer a controlled substance; 5
providing an effective date. 6

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 8

Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subsection (1) of section 10
893.05, Florida Statutes, is amended to read: 11
893.05 Practitioners a nd persons administering controlled 12
substances in their absence. — 13
(1)(a) A practitioner, in good faith and in the course of 14
his or her professional practice only, may prescribe, 15
administer, dispense, mix, or otherwise prepare a controlled 16
substance, or the practitioner may cause the controlled 17
substance to be administered , under his or her direction and 18
supervision only, by a certified paramedic in the course of 19
providing emergency services, by a licensed nurse, or an intern 20
practitioner under his or her direction and supervision only . 21
Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. 22
