62- (4) The purpose of the department is to assist the 37
63-Governor in working with the Legislature, state a gencies, 38
64-business leaders, and economic development professionals to 39
65-formulate and implement coherent and consistent policies and 40
66-strategies designed to promote economic opportunities for all 41
67-Floridians. The department is the state's chief agency for 42
68-business recruitment and expansion and economic development. To 43
69-accomplish such purposes, the department shall: 44
70- (m) Encourage and oversee manufacturing in this state in 45
71-coordination with the Chief Manufacturing Officer. 46

104- (e) Engage with state agencies and water management 67
105-districts to innovate processes, programs, decision frameworks, 68
106-and reporting mechanisms intended to support manufacturing in 69
107-this state. 70
108- (3) All state and local governmental entities shall assist 71
109-the Chief Manufacturing Officer to the extent such assistance is 72
110-consistent with law and w ith budgetary constraints. 73

176+and to provide training support to the workforce. 115
177+ (2) The department, in coordination with the Chief 116
178+Manufacturing Officer and the state Manufacturing Extension 117
179+Partnership, shall review applications submitted and select 118
180+projects for awards which create strategic investments in 119
181+workforce training to facilitate the deployment of new 120
182+technologies or cybersecurity infrastructure. Final grant awards 121
183+are made at the sole discretion of the department. 122
184+ (3) Priority must be given to projects with innovative 123
185+plans, advanced technologies, and development strategies tha t 124
186+focus on workforce development for small manufacturers across 125
