126126 school, except that a group of high schools in the district or a 77
127127 group of districts may hold a joint career fai r at an 78
128128 alternative location to satisfy the requirement in this 79
129129 paragraph. A joint career fair must be held at a location 80
130130 located within reasonable driving distance for students at all 81
131131 participating schools. The career fair must be held during the 82
132132 school day and may use Florida's online career planning and 83
133133 work-based learning system as part of the career fair 84
134134 activities. Alternatively, district school boards may consult 85
135135 with local workforce development boards, advisory committees, 86
136136 and business groups to det ermine free or cost-effective methods 87
137137 to provide other career and industry networking opportunities 88
138138 during the school day for secondary students and exposure for 89
139139 elementary and secondary students to a representative variety of 90

165165 (1) In order for a student to be promoted to high school 104
166166 from a school that includes middle grades 6, 7, and 8, the 105
167167 student must successfully complete the following courses: 106
168168 (e)1. One course in career and education planning to be 107
169169 completed in grades 6, 7, or 8, which may be taught by any 108
170170 member of the instructional staff. The course must be Internet -109
171171 based, customizable to each student, and include research -based 110
172172 assessments to assist students in determining educational and 111
173173 career options and goals. In addition, the course must result in 112
174174 a completed personalized academic and career plan for the 113
175175 student, which must use, when available, Florida's online career 114
176176 planning and work-based learning coordination system. The course 115
177177 must teach each student how to access and update the plan and 116
178178 encourage the student to access and update the plan at least 117
179179 annually as the student progresses through middle school and 118
180180 high school. The personalized academic and career plan must 119
181181 emphasize the importance of entrepreneurship and employability 120
182182 skills and must include information from the Department of 121
183183 Commerce's economic security report under s. 445.07 and other 122
184184 state career planning resources. The required personalized 123
185185 academic and career plan must inform students of high school 124
186186 graduation requirements, including a detailed explanation of the 125

331331 credit or career education clock hours that must be awarded for 222
332332 apprenticeship and preapprenticeship programs. The Board of 223
333333 Governors and the State Board of Education shall timely adopt 224

362362 clock hours are applicable toward the student's degree or 241
363363 certificate. State universities, Florida College System 242
364364 institutions, and career centers may award additional 243
365365 postsecondary credit or career education clock hours if 244
366366 appropriate. Postsecondary credit or career education clock 245
367367 hours awarded in accordance with m inimum postsecondary credit 246
368368 and career education clock hour requirements, respectively, are 247
369369 guaranteed to transfer to other state universities, Florida 248
370370 College System institutions, and career centers. 249
371371 Section 5. This act shall take effect July 1, 2025. 250
