3030 Section 1. Paragraph (b) of subsection (2) of section 17
3131 395.0191, Florida Statutes, is amended to read: 18

3434 (b) An advanced practice registered nurse who is certified 21
3535 as a registered nurse anesthetist licensed under part I of 22
3636 chapter 464 shall administer anesthesia under the onsite medical 23
3737 direction of a professional licensed under chapter 458, chapter 24

5353 This paragraph does not apply to an autonomous advanced practice 28
5454 registered nurse registered under s. 464.0123 who is certified 29

5656 chapter 464; however, a facility may require a certified 31
5757 registered nurse anesthetist who is registered and practicing 32
5858 under s. 464.0123 to perform acts under an established protocol 33

6161 Section 2. Paragraph (b) of subsection (4) of section 36
6262 464.012, Florida Statutes, is amended to read: 37
6363 464.012 Licensure of advanced practice registered nurses; 38
6464 fees; controlled substance prescribing. — 39
6565 (4) In addition to the general functions specified in 40
6666 subsection (3), an advanced practice registered nurse may 41
6767 perform the following acts within his or her specialty: 42
6868 (b) A The certified registered nurse anesthetist may, to 43
6969 the extent authorized by an established protocol approved by the 44
7070 medical staff of the faci lity in which the anesthetic service is 45
7171 performed, or a certified registered nurse anesthetist that is 46
7272 registered and practicing under s. 464.0123 without an 47
7373 established protocol, may perform any or all of the following: 48

8989 2. Based on history, physical assessment, and supplemental 52

104104 without an established protocol. These procedures include 67
105105 ordering and administering regional, spinal, and general 68
106106 anesthesia; inhalation agents and techniques; intravenous agents 69
107107 and techniques; and techniques of hypnosis. 70
108108 5. Order or perform monitoring procedures indicated as 71
109109 pertinent to the anesthetic health care management of the 72
110110 patient. 73
111111 6. Support life functions during anesthesia health care, 74
112112 including induction and intubation procedures, the use of 75

128128 abnormal patient responses to anesthesia, adjunctive medication, 79

130130 8. Recognize and treat a cardiac arrhythmia whil e the 81
131131 patient is under anesthetic care. 82
132132 9. Participate in management of the patient while in the 83
133133 postanesthesia recovery area, including ordering the 84
134134 administration of fluids and drugs. 85
135135 10. Place special peripheral and central venous and 86
136136 arterial lines for blood sampling and monitoring as appropriate. 87

139139 practicing under s. 464.0123 without an established protocol may 90
140140 only perform acts authorized under part I of this chapter. 91
