29- Section 1. Section 381.992, Florida Statutes, is crea ted 16

32- (1) The Department of Health, in collaboration with school 19
33-districts throughout the state, shall develop informational 20
34-materials for the early detection of Type 1 diabetes for parents 21
35-and guardians of students. The informational materials shall be 22
36-made available to each early learning coalition, school 23
37-district, and charter school through the department's website. 24
38- (2) Within 90 days after July 1, 2025, the department 25

26+ Section 1. Section 381.992, Florida Statutes, is created 13

53-department shall develop a standardized methodology for each 28
54-early learning coalition, school district, and charter school 29
55-for the notification of the pare nts or guardians of voluntary 30
56-prekindergarten, kindergarten, and first -grade students, by 31
57-September 30, 2025, and annually thereafter, of the availability 32
58-of the Type 1 diabetes early detection materials. 33
59- (3) Information provided to parents and guardians shall 34
60-include, but not be limited to, all of the following: 35
61- (a) A description of Type 1 diabetes. 36
62- (b) A description of the risk factors and warning signs 37
63-associated with Type 1 diabetes. 38
64- (c) A description of the process for screening students 39
65-for early detection of Type 1 diabetes using a blood 40
66-autoantibody test. 41
67- (d) A recommendation for further evaluation for students 42
68-displaying warning signs associated with Type 1 diabetes or 43
69-positive early detection screening results. 44
70- Section 2. Subsection ( 5) of section 1002.53, Florida 45
71-Statutes, is amended to read: 46
72- 1002.53 Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program; 47
73-eligibility and enrollment. — 48
74- (5) The early learning coalition shall provide each parent 49
75-enrolling a child in the Voluntary Prekindergarten Education 50

88-Program with a profile of every private prekindergarten provider 51
89-and public school delivering the program within the county where 52
90-the child is being enrolled. The profiles shall be provided to 53
91-parents in a format prescribed by the department in accordance 54
92-with s. 1002.92(3). The early learning coalition must also 55
93-annually notify parents and guardians of the availability of 56
94-informational materials for the early detection of Type 1 57
95-diabetes pursuant to s. 381.992. 58
96- Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2025. 59
