1515 An act relating to the carrying of handguns or weapons 2
1616 by law enforcement officers attending athletic events; 3
1717 amending s. 790.06, F.S.; providing an exception to a 4
1818 prohibition on the carrying of handguns or concealed 5
1919 weapons or firearms at athletic events if a person 6
2020 holds an active certification as a law enforcement 7
2121 officer and is attending such events as a private 8
22-citizen provided that he or she complies with ce rtain 9

25-Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 12

27- Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subsection (12) of section 14
28-790.06, Florida Statutes, is amended to read: 15
29- 790.06 License to carry concealed we apon or concealed 16
30-firearm.— 17
31- (12)(a) A license issued under this section does not 18
32-authorize any person to openly carry a handgun or carry a 19
33-concealed weapon or concealed firearm into: 20
34- 1. Any place of nuisance as defined in s. 823.05; 21
35- 2. Any police, sheriff, or highway patrol station; 22
36- 3. Any detention facility, prison, or jail; 23
37- 4. Any courthouse; 24
38- 5. Any courtroom, except that nothing in this section 25

51-precludes a judge from carrying a concealed weapon or concealed 26
52-firearm or determining who will car ry a concealed weapon or 27
53-concealed firearm in his or her courtroom; 28

55- 7. Any meeting of the governing body of a county, public 30
56-school district, municipality, or special district; 31
57- 8. Any meeting of the Legislature or a committee th ereof; 32
58- 9. Any school, college, or professional athletic event not 33
59-related to firearms, except that this section does not preclude 34
60-a person who holds an active certification from the Criminal 35
61-Justice Standards and Training Commission as a law enforcement 36
62-officer as defined in s. 943.10(1) from carrying a concealed 37
63-weapon or a concealed firearm when attending such an event as a 38
64-private citizen, provided that the person complies with any 39
65-verification requirements imposed by the venue while he or she 40
66-is attending the athletic event ; 41
67- 10. Any elementary or secondary school facility or 42
68-administration building; 43
69- 11. Any career center; 44
70- 12. Any portion of an establishment licensed to dispense 45
71-alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises, which 46
72-portion of the establishment is primarily devoted to such 47
73-purpose; 48
74- 13. Any college or university facility unless the licensee 49
75-is a registered student, employee, or faculty member of such 50
51+firearm or determining who will carry a concealed weapon or 26
52+concealed firearm in his or her co urtroom; 27

91- 14. The inside of the passenger terminal and sterile area 54
92-of any airport, provided that no person shall be prohibited from 55
93-carrying any legal firearm i nto the terminal, which firearm is 56
94-encased for shipment for purposes of checking such firearm as 57
95-baggage to be lawfully transported on any aircraft; or 58
96- 15. Any place where the carrying of firearms is prohibited 59
97-by federal law. 60
98- Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2025. 61
