An act relating to the Central Broward Water Control 2
District, Broward County; amend ch. 98 -501, Laws of 3
Florida, as amended; revising the manner in which the 4
district may levy taxes; providing an effective date. 5

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 7

Section 1. Section 12 of chapter 98 -501, Laws of Florida, 9
as amended by chapter 2009 -257, Laws of Florida, is amended to 10
read: 11
Section 12. Taxation.— 12
a. The board of commissioners of the district is 13
authorized to levy taxes on land only and not upon any 14
improvements thereon within the district up to and including 5 15
mills per dollar of taxable assessed valuation. In the absence 16
of any contrary action of the board of commissioners acting as a 17
budget commission as herein provided, the tax rate of each 18
calendar year shall be at the maximum provided herein. 19
b. Such taxes as provided herein and as may be determined 20
to be necessary by th e board of commissioners, acting as budget 21
commission for the district for the operation of the affairs of 22
the district, shall be certified to the Property Appraiser of 23
Broward County, by the board of commissioners of Central Broward 24
Water Control District , and shall be placed upon the tax rolls 25

of Broward County, by the property appraiser, and shall be 26
collected by the Revenue Tax Collector of Broward County, as now 27
provided by law, and such taxes so levied shall become a lien 28
under the law against the pro perty within the boundaries of the 29
Central Broward Water Control District and enforceable under the 30
laws of the State of Florida pertaining to the Central Broward 31
Water Control District. 32
Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. 33
