Florida Senate - 2025 CS for SB 1224 By the Committee on Health Policy; and Senator Harrell 588-02847-25 20251224c1 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to the administration of controlled 3 substances; amending s. 893.05, F.S.; authorizing a 4 practitioner to cause a controlled substance to be 5 administered by a certified paramedic in the course of 6 providing emergency services; providing an effective 7 date. 8 9 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 10 11 Section 1.Paragraph (a) of subsection (1) of section 12 893.05, Florida Statutes, is amended to read: 13 893.05Practitioners and persons administering controlled 14 substances in their absence. 15 (1)(a)A practitioner, in good faith and in the course of 16 his or her professional practice only, may prescribe, 17 administer, dispense, mix, or otherwise prepare a controlled 18 substance, or the practitioner may cause the controlled 19 substance to be administered, under his or her direction and 20 supervision only, by a certified paramedic in the course of 21 providing emergency services, by a licensed nurse, or an intern 22 practitioner under his or her direction and supervision only. 23 Section 2.This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
