A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Linda Blechinger on her outstanding public service; and for

other purposes.2
WHEREAS, Linda Blechinger was first elected mayor of Auburn, Georgia, more than 183
years ago, a position she has held to this day; and4
WHEREAS, Mayor Blechinger has served her community with dedication during her 185
years in office; and6
WHEREAS, Mayor Blechinger decided not to stand for re-election in Auburn's 20237
municipal elections; and8
WHEREAS, her legacy extends beyond her elected office to encompass the countless local9
and state organizations in which she has been involved, including positions on the Board of10
Directors for the Barrow Chamber of Commerce, the Piedmont Rape Crisis Center,11
Economic Development Barrow County, and Literacy Barrow; and12

WHEREAS, Mayor Blechinger has also served as a member of the Arts Development

Council of Georgia, the Winder-Barrow Joint Development Authority, Partnership Gwinnett,14
and the Gwinnett Municipal Association; and15
WHEREAS, she was elected president of the Georgia Municipal Association in 2018; and16
WHEREAS, Mayor Blechinger led the City of Auburn through a period of great growth17
while still allowing the city to maintain its old southern charm; and18
WHEREAS, her commitment to a lifetime of servant leadership in her community is truly19
exemplary; and20
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this21
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.22
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that23
the members of this body recognize and commend Linda Blechinger for her efficient,24
effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia as well as extend the25
most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.26
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized27
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Linda28
Blechinger.29
