23 LC 112 1725 House Resolution 20EX By: Representative Bennett of the 94 th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of James Edward "Sonny" Wynn; and for other purposes. 1 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2 with the passing of James Edward "Sonny" Wynn; and3 WHEREAS, James Edward "Sonny" Wynn was born on July 9, 1934, in Douglas County,4 Georgia, a beloved son of Willie and Louise Kemp Wynn; and5 WHEREAS, Sonny graduated from Hutcheson High School in 1952 and, recognizing the6 need to learn a trade, enrolled in trade school to acquire carpentry skills; and7 WHEREAS, he worked during the day as a laborer in the construction industry and attended8 night school to learn how to read blueprints, ultimately dedicating over 36 years to Beers9 Construction Company before his retirement in 1994 as a brick mason foreman; and10 WHEREAS, beyond his professional life, Sonny utilized his blueprint reading and carpentry11 skills to benefit the Douglasville community, contributing to the construction of many family12 homes as well as Fairfield A.M.E. Church and the Tranquil A.M.E. Church sanctuary, where13 the Fellowship Hall is named in his honor; and14 H. R. 20EX - 1 - 23 LC 112 1725 WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife, Catherine, and was blessed with 15 seven remarkable children, Dwight, Dennis, Kendra, Cathy, Carla, Douglas, and Daniel; four16 wonderful grandchildren, Kendall, Joya, Chelsea, and Kristian; and one outstanding17 great-grandchild, Paiyton; and18 WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern19 for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his20 family and friends were admired by others; and21 WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation22 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he23 made this world a better place in which to live; and24 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Sonny will long be remembered for his25 love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who had the great26 fortune of knowing him.27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that28 the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of James Edward "Sonny"29 Wynn and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized31 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the32 family of James Edward "Sonny" Wynn.33 H.
