9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2 |

10 | 10 | | with the passing of James Edward "Sonny" Wynn; and3 |

11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, James Edward "Sonny" Wynn was born on July 9, 1934, in Douglas County,4 |
---|
12 | 12 | | Georgia, a beloved son of Willie and Louise Kemp Wynn; and5 |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Sonny graduated from Hutcheson High School in 1952 and, recognizing the6 |
---|
14 | 14 | | need to learn a trade, enrolled in trade school to acquire carpentry skills; and7 |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, he worked during the day as a laborer in the construction industry and attended8 |
---|
16 | 16 | | night school to learn how to read blueprints, ultimately dedicating over 36 years to Beers9 |
---|
17 | 17 | | Construction Company before his retirement in 1994 as a brick mason foreman; and10 |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, beyond his professional life, Sonny utilized his blueprint reading and carpentry11 |
---|
19 | 19 | | skills to benefit the Douglasville community, contributing to the construction of many family12 |
---|
20 | 20 | | homes as well as Fairfield A.M.E. Church and the Tranquil A.M.E. Church sanctuary, where13 |
---|
21 | 21 | | the Fellowship Hall is named in his honor; and14 |

26 | 26 | | seven remarkable children, Dwight, Dennis, Kendra, Cathy, Carla, Douglas, and Daniel; four16 |

27 | 27 | | wonderful grandchildren, Kendall, Joya, Chelsea, and Kristian; and one outstanding17 |

28 | 28 | | great-grandchild, Paiyton; and18 |
---|
29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern19 |
---|
30 | 30 | | for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his20 |

31 | 31 | | family and friends were admired by others; and21 |

32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation22 |

33 | 33 | | for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he23 |

34 | 34 | | made this world a better place in which to live; and24 |

35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Sonny will long be remembered for his25 |

36 | 36 | | love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who had the great26 |

38 | 38 | | NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that28 |

40 | 40 | | Wynn and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.30 |
