77 Honoring the life and memory of James Edward "Sonny" Wynn; and for other purposes.

99 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2
1010 with the passing of James Edward "Sonny" Wynn; and3
1111 WHEREAS, James Edward "Sonny" Wynn was born on July 9, 1934, in Douglas County,4
1212 Georgia, a beloved son of Willie and Louise Kemp Wynn; and5
1313 WHEREAS, Sonny graduated from Hutcheson High School in 1952 and, recognizing the6
1414 need to learn a trade, enrolled in trade school to acquire carpentry skills; and7
1515 WHEREAS, he worked during the day as a laborer in the construction industry and attended8
1616 night school to learn how to read blueprints, ultimately dedicating over 36 years to Beers9
1717 Construction Company before his retirement in 1994 as a brick mason foreman; and10
1818 WHEREAS, beyond his professional life, Sonny utilized his blueprint reading and carpentry11
1919 skills to benefit the Douglasville community, contributing to the construction of many family12
2020 homes as well as Fairfield A.M.E. Church and the Tranquil A.M.E. Church sanctuary, where13
2121 the Fellowship Hall is named in his honor; and14

2424 WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife, Catherine, and was blessed with

2626 seven remarkable children, Dwight, Dennis, Kendra, Cathy, Carla, Douglas, and Daniel; four16
2727 wonderful grandchildren, Kendall, Joya, Chelsea, and Kristian; and one outstanding17
2828 great-grandchild, Paiyton; and18
2929 WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern19
3030 for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his20
3131 family and friends were admired by others; and21
3232 WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation22
3333 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he23
3434 made this world a better place in which to live; and24
3535 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Sonny will long be remembered for his25
3636 love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who had the great26
3737 fortune of knowing him.27
3838 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that28
3939 the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of James Edward "Sonny"29
4040 Wynn and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.30
4141 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized31
4242 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the32
4343 family of James Edward "Sonny" Wynn.33
