1515 A RESOLUTION
1616 Commending the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas and the Nigerian

1818 Physicians Advocacy Group; and for other purposes.2
1919 WHEREAS, the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas (ANPA) has, since its3
2020 incorporation in 1995, demonstrated an unwavering commitment to educational, scientific,4
2121 and charitable endeavors, operating as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization; and5
2222 WHEREAS, representing the professional interests of over 4,000 physicians, dentists, and6
2323 allied health professionals of Nigerian birth, ethnicity, or empathy in the United States,7
2424 Canada, and the Caribbean, ANPA has consistently provided a vital platform for medical and8
2525 scientific dialogue and addressed health issues within North America, the Caribbean, and9
2626 Africa, especially those pertinent to individuals of descent from the Nigerian Diaspora; and10
2727 WHEREAS, the Nigerian Physicians Advocacy Group (NPAG), serving as the non-partisan11
2828 501(c)(4) affiliate of ANPA, was incorporated in 2019 with the mission to further the goals12
2929 of ANPA by advocating for initiatives that strengthen the rule of law, engaging in voter13
3030 education and get-out-to-vote campaigns, and providing basic health services; and14

3333 WHEREAS, during the 2023 election period in Nigeria, NPAG actively participated in voter
3434 15
3535 sensitization programs while providing blood pressure screening and treatment to combat the16
3636 crucial issue of high blood pressure, a leading cause of sudden death in Nigeria; and17
3737 WHEREAS, the ANPA Georgia Chapter has long served as a beacon of community impact,18
3838 incorporating an annual 5k race to raise awareness for health issues plaguing communities,19
3939 including sickle cell disease; and20
4040 WHEREAS, the ANPA Georgia Chapter has tirelessly addressed healthcare disparities and21
4141 access issues within the state by organizing health fairs across various counties, including22
4242 Henry and Fulton counties, focusing on chronic illnesses such as hypertension and diabetes23
4343 alongside education on healthy living and breast cancer awareness; and24
4444 WHEREAS, demonstrating a commitment to social responsibility, the ANPA Georgia25
4545 Chapter has forged partnerships with organizations like Hosea Helps to serve those in need26
4646 and address hunger and homelessness in Georgia; and27
4747 WHEREAS, amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, both ANPA and28
4848 NPAG actively participated in fundraising efforts, contributing to the procurement of29
4949 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Nigeria and supporting relief campaigns assisting30
5050 families and the Atlanta Community Food Bank; and31
5151 WHEREAS, both organizations remain dedicated to supporting the Sickle Cell Foundation32
5252 of Georgia and upholding their commitment to providing free health fairs that serve33
5353 under-represented communities; and34

5656 WHEREAS, this remarkable collaboration between ANPA and NPAG showcases a

5858 commendable synergy of expertise, advocacy, and community impact, contributing36
5959 significantly to the betterment of healthcare, civic engagement, and community well-being.37
6060 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that38
6161 the members of this body commend both the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the39
6262 Americas and the Nigerian Physicians Advocacy Group for their many outstanding40
6363 contributions on behalf of the citizens of Georgia and extend best wishes for continued41
6464 growth, development, and success.42
6565 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized43
6666 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the44
6767 Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas and the Nigerian Physicians Advocacy45
6868 Group.46
