A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending David Adedeji Adeleke; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, is a Nigerian-American2
singer, songwriter, and record producer of Lagos, Nigeria, being born, raised, and a resident3
of Atlanta, Georgia; and4
WHEREAS, Davido has amassed more than 3 billion global streams and more than 1.55
billion global video views across his 11-year career; and6
WHEREAS, Davido owns one of the most successful independent labels in Africa; and7
WHEREAS, Davido was awarded the Humanitarian Award of the Year and Digital Artiste8
of the Year at the Headies Awards; and9
WHEREAS, Davido further won Best African Act and Worldwide Act at the MTV EMA10
Awards, Best International Act at the BET Awards, Outstanding International Song at the11
NAACP Image Awards, Best Male & Best Collaboration at the Trace Awards, and more; and12

WHEREAS, Davido has been nominated for three Grammy nominations for his recent

album, Timeless, and two singles, "Feel" and "Unavailable"; and14
WHEREAS, Davido has the title of the longest-charting Nigerian and platinum RIAA15
certification for a pop song in Billboard history for his hit single "Fall"; and16
WHEREAS, Davido's Timeless album holds the prestigious title of being the biggest African17
album in Apple Music history and has set a new benchmark for African artists; and18
WHEREAS, Davido is the first African artist to sell out a headline show at the O2 Arena in19
London in 2018, 2019, 2022, and soon again in 2024; and20
WHEREAS, Davido has headlined concerts all over the world, including Malaysia, England,21
Suriname, Senegal, Ivory Coast, South Africa, Gabon, Ghana, Norway, Sweden, Djibouti,22
Haiti, and many others; and23
WHEREAS, Davido has performed at Wireless, Made in America, Dreamville Festival,24
Roots Picnic, Power 105.1's Powerhouse in NYC, Summer Jam, Indigo Tour, One Music25
Festival, and more; and26
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this distinguished artist be appropriately27
honored for his accomplishments and contributions to the State of Georgia and the African28
community.29
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body30
recognize and commend David Adedeji Adeleke for his many outstanding artistic31
accomplishments as well as extend best wishes for continued success.32

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed

to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to David Adedeji34
Adeleke.35
