A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
To amend Part 1 of Article 4 of Chapter 12 of Title 45 of the Official Code of Georgia

Annotated, relating to management of budgetary and financial affairs, so as to provide for2
the disposition of state funds derived from certain legal judgments or settlements; to provide3
for related matters; to provide for an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other4
purposes.5
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:6
SECTION 1.7
Part 1 of Article 4 of Chapter 12 of Title 45 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated,8
relating to management of budgetary and financial affairs, is amended by adding a new Code9
Section to read as follows:10
"45-12-76.1.

All funds derived by this state from legal judgments awarded to this state on or after12
June 1, 2023, or legal settlements entered into by this state or on its behalf on or after13
June 1, 2023, shall be held in the state treasury until appropriated by the General Assembly.14
Such appropriations shall be made in accordance with any terms or conditions required of15 23 LC 43 2726

such judgments or settlements, if any, provided that such terms or conditions are not16
otherwise prohibited by state or federal law."17
SECTION 2.18
This Act shall become effective on June 1, 2023.19
SECTION 3.20
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.21
