A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
To amend Part 1 of Article 4 of Chapter 12 of Title 45 of the Official Code of Georgia

Annotated, relating to management of budgetary and financial affairs, so as to provide for2
the disposition of all funds paid to the state from legal settlements; to provide for related3
matters; to provide for an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.4
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:5
SECTION 1.6
Part 1 of Article 4 of Chapter 12 of Title 45 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated,7
relating to management of budgetary and financial affairs, is amended by adding a new Code8
Section to read as follows:9
"45-12-76.1.

All funds paid to this state in accordance with legal settlements entered into by this state11
or on its behalf on or after June 1, 2023, shall be held in the state treasury until12
appropriated by the General Assembly, subject to, and in accordance with, any terms or13
conditions contained in a judgment, settlement agreement, or memorandum of14

SECTION 2.

This Act shall become effective on June 1, 2023.17
SECTION 3.18
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.19
