18	16		AN ACT
19	17		To amend an Act amending the several Acts relating to and incorporating the Mayor and

21	19		Aldermen of the City of Savannah, approved March 17, 1978 (Ga. L. 1978, p. 3998), as2
22	20		amended, particularly by an Act approved March 20, 1990 (Ga. L. 1990, p. 3995), so as to3
23	21		implement a limitation on the number of terms the aldermen may serve; to repeal conflicting4
24	22		laws; and for other purposes.5
25	23		BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:6
26	24		SECTION 1.7
27	25		An Act amending the several Acts relating to and incorporating the Mayor and Aldermen of8
28	26		the City of Savannah, approved March 17, 1978 (Ga. L. 1978, p. 3998), as amended,9
29	27		particularly by an Act approved March 20, 1990 (Ga. L. 1990, p. 3995), is amended by10
30	28		revising subsection (d) of quoted Section 2 of Section 1 of said Act as follows:11
31	29		"(d) The mayor and aldermen shall be elected at an election held on the Tuesday following12
32	30		the first Monday of November immediately preceding the expiration of their terms of office13
33	31		and shall take office on the first day of January immediately following their election for14
34	32		terms of four years and until their successors are duly elected and qualified, provided that15
35		-	any mayor who has been elected for two consecutive four-year terms of office shall not be16 23 LC 47 2308~~/AP~~

38	36		eligible to be elected for the succeeding term. Any alderman who has been elected for

40	38		three consecutive four-year terms of office in the same district or the same at-large post18
41	39		shall not be eligible to be elected for the succeeding term in the same district or the same19
42	40		at-large post; provided, however, that any terms to which an alderman was elected prior to20
43	41		July 1, 2023, shall not count toward the limit provided for in this subsection."21
44	42		SECTION 2.22
45	43		All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed. 23
