1816 AN ACT
1917 To amend an Act amending the several Acts relating to and incorporating the Mayor and

2119 Aldermen of the City of Savannah, approved March 17, 1978 (Ga. L. 1978, p. 3998), as2
2220 amended, particularly by an Act approved March 20, 1990 (Ga. L. 1990, p. 3995), so as to3
2321 implement a limitation on the number of terms the aldermen may serve; to repeal conflicting4
2422 laws; and for other purposes.5
2523 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:6
2624 SECTION 1.7
2725 An Act amending the several Acts relating to and incorporating the Mayor and Aldermen of8
2826 the City of Savannah, approved March 17, 1978 (Ga. L. 1978, p. 3998), as amended,9
2927 particularly by an Act approved March 20, 1990 (Ga. L. 1990, p. 3995), is amended by10
3028 revising subsection (d) of quoted Section 2 of Section 1 of said Act as follows:11
3129 "(d) The mayor and aldermen shall be elected at an election held on the Tuesday following12
3230 the first Monday of November immediately preceding the expiration of their terms of office13
3331 and shall take office on the first day of January immediately following their election for14
3432 terms of four years and until their successors are duly elected and qualified, provided that15

3836 eligible to be elected for the succeeding term. Any alderman who has been elected for

4038 three consecutive four-year terms of office in the same district or the same at-large post18
4139 shall not be eligible to be elected for the succeeding term in the same district or the same19
4240 at-large post; provided, however, that any terms to which an alderman was elected prior to20
4341 July 1, 2023, shall not count toward the limit provided for in this subsection."21
4442 SECTION 2.22
4543 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed. 23
