1515 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1616 AN ACT
1717 To amend Chapter 5 of Title 21 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to

1919 government transparency and campaign finance, so as to prohibit the State Ethics2
2020 Commission from posting or publishing on the internet the personally identifying3
2121 information of judges; to provide for definitions; to provide for related matters; to repeal4
2222 conflicting laws; and for other purposes.5
2323 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:6
2424 SECTION 1.7
2525 Chapter 5 of Title 21 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to government8
2626 transparency and campaign finance, is amended by adding a new Code section to read as9
2727 follows:10
2828 "21-5-16.

3030 (a) As used in this Code section, the term:12
3131 (1) 'Judge' means any elected or appointed justice or judge serving in a class of court13
3232 identified in Title 15.14
3333 (2) 'Personally identifiable information' means an individual's home phone number,15
3434 personal cell phone number, and home address.16

3737 (b) Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter or of Chapter 18 of Title 50 to the17
3838 contrary, the commission shall not knowingly post or publish on the internet or repost,18
3939 republish, or otherwise make available on the internet the personally identifiable19
4040 information of a judge without his or her express written permission."20
4141 SECTION 2.21
4242 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.22
