A RESOLUTION
Commending and congratulating Gerald Kemp; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Gerald Kemp was named the 2024 Coweta Citizen of the Year by the Kiwanis2
Clubs of Coweta County on January 25, 2024, in recognition of his exceptional community3
service and leadership; and4
WHEREAS, a senior vice president at Ameris Bank, he has dedicated innumerable hours of5
his time and energy toward volunteering with numerous local organizations focused on6
education, health care, quality of life, business, housing, and citizenship; and7
WHEREAS, his community involvement additionally includes coaching youth sports,8
volunteering with Meals on Wheels, and teaching financial literacy seminars in underserved9
communities; and10
WHEREAS, he has demonstrated a profound commitment to youth and education as a11
deacon at Zion Hill Baptist Church, where he teaches Sunday school for teens, advises youth,12
and has established a scholarship fund; and13

WHEREAS, Gerald Kemp has held influential positions such as past president of the Rotary
14
Club of Newnan and board chairman for ELEVATE Coweta Students as well as leadership15
roles with the Newnan-Coweta United Way; and16
WHEREAS, his active participation in the Coweta County School System, including the17
superintendent's advisory committee and mentoring students, stands as further testament to18
his commitment to educational excellence; and19
WHEREAS, this distinguished gentleman has given inspiration to many through his high20
ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens; and 21
WHEREAS, by the example Gerald Kemp has made of his life, he makes this world a better22
place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that he be appropriately honored.23
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that24
the members of this body commend and congratulate Gerald Kemp, the 2024 Coweta Citizen25
of the Year, as well as extend their most sincere best wishes for continued health and26
happiness.27
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized28
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to29
Gerald Kemp.30
