1313 A RESOLUTION
1414 Honoring the life of Mrs. Francis Bright Johnson and dedicating an interchange in her

1616 memory; and for other purposes.2
1717 WHEREAS, Mrs. Francis Bright Johnson was born on April 17, 1937, the beloved daughter3
1818 of Robert Bryant, Sr., and Rosa Lee Williams; and4
1919 WHEREAS, Mrs. Johnson was raised in Garden City, Georgia, and graduated from Richard5
2020 Arnold High School; and6
2121 WHEREAS, an active leader of her community, Mrs. Johnson was a lifetime member of the7
2222 NAACP, served for ten years as chairperson of the Political Advisory Council, was a8
2323 member of the Chatham County Federation of Democratic Women, and was a member of9
2424 the YMCA and YWCA Executive Board Democratic Forum; and10
2525 WHEREAS, Mrs. Johnson's significant organizational and leadership talents, her remarkable11
2626 patience and diplomacy, her keen sense of vision, and her sensitivity to the needs of the12
2727 citizens of this state earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and associates;13

3131 WHEREAS, she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation

3333 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and16
3434 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable and distinguished17
3535 Georgian be recognized appropriately by dedicating an interchange in her memory.18
3636 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL19
3737 ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the interchange at State Route 25/ U.S. Route 17 and State20
3838 Route 204 in Chatham County is dedicated as the Francis Bright Johnson Memorial21
3939 Interchange.22
4040 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and23
4141 directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Francis Bright Johnson24
4242 Memorial Interchange.25
4343 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized26
4444 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the27
4545 family of Mrs. Francis Bright Johnson and to the Department of Transportation.28
