1515 A RESOLUTION
1616 Recognizing and commending the Nigerian Women Association of Georgia; and for other

1818 purposes.2
1919 WHEREAS, the Nigerian Women Association of Georgia has a long and consistent record3
2020 of service to the community and this state and has been recognized as one of the most4
2121 dynamic and committed civic organizations in Georgia; and5
2222 WHEREAS, this outstanding organization has had a tremendous impact on its community6
2323 through its spirit of service and desire to improve the quality of life in both the United States7
2424 and Nigeria; and8
2525 WHEREAS, in the United States, the group awards scholarships to qualified high school9
2626 seniors in the Atlanta area, conducts outreach to schools in the Atlanta area to educate10
2727 students about the cultural heritage of Nigeria and Africa, and organize annual summer11
2828 enrichment and educational programs for youth and children in the Atlanta area; and12
2929 WHEREAS, the association also collaborates with numerous charitable organizations13
3030 including the Southside Medical Center, the Sickle Cell Foundation, International Women's14

3333 House, Hosea Feed the Hungry, MedShare International, the Atlanta Community Food Bank,

3535 and the Susan G. Komen; and16
3636 WHEREAS, in Nigeria, the group awards scholarships, provides holiday gifts through the17
3737 Angel Tree Project and supports the nutrition program of orphanages, contributes medical18
3838 supplies, works to raise HIV/AIDS awareness, and fights sex trafficking among other worthy19
3939 endeavors; and20
4040 WHEREAS, it received the "African Community Humanitarian Award" from African21
4141 Women Leadership Organization (AWLO) in 2016 and the "Community Impact Award"22
4242 from Overcomers Christian Fellowship in 2014; and23
4343 WHEREAS, this remarkable civic organization has established a glowing reputation of24
4444 renown throughout Georgia for its dedication and high ideals and it is abundantly fitting and25
4545 proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this extraordinary organization be26
4646 appropriately recognized.27
4747 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that28
4848 the members of this body recognize and commend the Nigerian Women Association of29
4949 Georgia and thank it for its efforts of behalf of the community and state.30
5050 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized31
5151 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the32
5252 Nigerian Women Association of Georgia.33
