R. 163 - 1 - House Resolution 163 By: Representatives Smith of the 70 th , Glaize of the 67 th , Thomas of the 65 th , and Bonner of the 73 rd A RESOLUTION Commending Mrs. Barbara Andrews Landreth's retirement and service as Georgia's longest 1 serving teacher; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Mrs. Barbara Andrews Landreth received her teaching degree from Troy State3 College; and4 WHEREAS, Mrs. Landreth served her community as an English teacher for 59 years at5 Newnan High School in Coweta County; Mrs. Landreth taught English and literature for 566 of her 59 years in Room 106 and served as the English department chair. Mrs. Landreth7 served as the Newnan High School Ephemera yearbook advisor since 1964, and she was8 recognized four times as a STAR Teacher and was instrumental in Newnan High School,9 being selected as a Georgia School of Excellence three times; and10 WHEREAS, Mrs. Landreth's service to her community has touched the lives of thousands11 of Georgia students and their families and illustrates the impact of Georgia professional12 educators.13 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that14 the members of this body commend and offer sincere gratitude to Mrs. Barbara Andrew15 23 LC 112 1308 H. R. 163 - 2 - Landreth for her service to Georgia students, her service unto the community, and her service 16 unto Georgia.17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that her 59-year teaching career serves as an example for all18 citizens of Georgia and that the impact of her service will be experienced for years to come19 in our state.20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized21 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Mrs.22 Barbara Andrews Landreth.23
