1313 Recognizing the West Berrien Vietnam War Veterans and dedicating a bridge in their

1515 memory; and for other purposes.2
1616 WHEREAS, our nation's security continues to rely on patriotic men and women who put3
1717 their personal lives on hold in order to place themselves in harm's way to protect the4
1818 freedoms that all United States citizens cherish; and5
1919 WHEREAS, United States military veterans have demonstrated a deep personal commitment6
2020 to protecting democracy and a willingness to sacrifice their own personal safety and comfort7
2121 to ensure the well-being of their fellow man; and8
2222 WHEREAS, they have served as guardians of this nation's freedom and liberty and have9
2323 diligently and conscientiously undergone intensive and rigorous training in order to serve10
2424 their country with honor and distinction during times of war and peace; and11
2525 WHEREAS, it is important that veterans are thanked for their selfless service to this nation12
2626 and honored for their unyielding commitment to protecting the people and ideals of the13

3030 WHEREAS, veterans embody the spirit of service, willing to find meaning in something

3232 greater than themselves, and it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding16
3333 accomplishments and sacrifices of these remarkable and distinguished Americans be honored17
3434 appropriately.18
3535 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL19
3636 ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that this body hereby joins in honoring military veterans and20
3737 dedicates the SR 125 Bridge over Vanceville Road near the Berrien/Tift County line in21
3838 Berrien County as the West Berrien Vietnam War Veterans Memorial Bridge and includes22
3939 each of the following names: Scott Tucker, Homer Williams, Carroll Purvis, Jerry23
4040 Castleberry, Darrell Danforth, Charles Nichols, Jimmy Grant, Roger Grant, Roger Walker,24
4141 Johnny Gaskins, Dalton Purvis, Raliegh Tyson, Dewayne Lovett, Ray Pearson, Fred Ivey,25
4242 Larry Taylor, James Griffin, Clifton Bryan, Ottis Weeks, Larry Purvis, Howard Womack,26
4343 and Thomas Lokey.27
4444 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and28
4545 directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the West Berrien Vietnam War29
4646 Veterans Memorial Bridge and to include each of the following names: Scott Tucker, Homer30
4747 Williams, Carroll Purvis, Jerry Castleberry, Darrell Danforth, Charles Nichols, Jimmy Grant,31
