R. 31 - 1 - House Resolution 31 By: Representatives Hilton of the 48 th , Romman of the 97 th , Martinez of the 111 th , Reeves of the 99 th , and Tran of the 80 th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Deborah "Debbie" Lee Mason; and for other purposes. 1 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2 with the passing of Deborah "Debbie" Lee Mason on January 4, 2023; and3 WHEREAS, Debbie was born on January 22, 1951, a beloved daughter of Edward and Leona4 Shoulders; and5 WHEREAS, she was united in love and marriage for 49 years to her husband, Mike, and was6 blessed with two remarkable children, Matt and Nick, as well as one wonderful grandchild,7 Clara; and8 WHEREAS, she was cherished by her family as a full-time mom, part-time Wonder Woman,9 and occasional miracle worker, and to her friends and community, she was respected as a10 professional volunteer, fearless leader, and perpetual truth teller; and11 WHEREAS, co-founder of the Fox Hill Homeowner's Association alongside her husband,12 Debbie dedicated innumerable hours of her time and energy to the well-being of her13 community and spent much of her life in service of others; and14 23 LC 127 0011 H. R. 31 - 2 - WHEREAS, as First Lady of Peachtree Corners, Georgia, she served as a founding board 15 member of the Peachtree Corners Festival and the Glow in the Corners Holiday Festival as16 well as part of the United Peachtree Corners Civic Association Board, the Gwinnett Clean17 and Beautiful Board, the City Arts Council, and the City Green Committee; and18 WHEREAS, she gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern19 for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding she demonstrated to20 her family and friends were admired by others; and21 WHEREAS, she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation22 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example she made of her life,23 she made this world a better place in which to live; and24 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous woman who's nature was to nurture, Debbie will25 long be remembered for her love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed26 by all who had the great fortune of knowing her.27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that28 the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Deborah "Debbie" Lee29 Mason and express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized31 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the32 family of Deborah "Debbie" Lee Mason.33
