| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Jon B. Howard was born in the unincorporated Capps community in Jefferson2 |

| 21 | 21 | | County, Florida, to the late Boysie and Rosa Howard; and3 |

| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, he received his secondary education in the Dougherty County School system,4 |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | graduating from Dougherty County High School in 1974 and receiving a political science5 |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | degree from Albany State University; and6 |

| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Jon has tirelessly worked for more than 45 years in voter registration and voter7 |

| 26 | 26 | | education and has assisted candidates running for political office on the local, state, and8 |

| 27 | 27 | | federal levels; and9 |

| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Jon had political aspirations for himself starting at age ten, and on10 |

| 29 | 29 | | August 10, 1993, he was elected as the city commissioner for Ward 1 in a run-off election,11 |

| 31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, he has served as Ward 1's city commissioner for 29 years, making him the13 |

| 43 | 43 | | WHEREAS, his accomplishments include organizing monthly meetings of the22 |

| 44 | 44 | | Albany/Dougherty County Gang Task Force, recognizing the achievements of students23 |

| 45 | 45 | | enrolled in the Dougherty County School System, and successfully recruiting Walmart to24 |

| 47 | 47 | | NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that26 |

| 48 | 48 | | the members of this body recognize Jon B. Howard, Ward 1, city commissioner, for his27 |

| 49 | 49 | | contributions to the citizens of Albany and specifically the citizens of Ward 1.28 |

| 50 | 50 | | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of this body encourage all citizens to join29 |

| 51 | 51 | | in congratulating Jon B. Howard for his more than 29 years of exemplary public service.30 |
