| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Charlayne Hunter-Gault grew up in the Hunter Hills community of Atlanta,3 |

| 14 | 14 | | editor-in-chief of the school's newspaper, assistant yearbook editor, and was voted "Miss5 |

| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, she was a pioneer in the integration of the University of Georgia on January 9,7 |

| 17 | 17 | | 1961, as one of the first two African-American students to enroll in the university and8 |

| 18 | 18 | | graduated in 1963 with a bachelor's degree in journalism; and9 |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Hunter-Gault served as a correspondent for National Public Radio, CNN,10 |

| 20 | 20 | | and the Public Broadcasting Service; and11 |

| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, during her prestigious career, she has been recognized with numerous awards12 |

| 22 | 22 | | and honors, including two Emmys and a Peabody for excellence in broadcast journalism, the13 |
