24 LC 112 1947 House Resolution 914 By: Representatives Greene of the 154 th , Cheokas of the 151 st , and Yearta of the 152 nd A RESOLUTION Congratulating the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce and recognizing January 30, 2024, 1 as Albany-Dougherty County Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Albany-Dougherty County and the Albany Area play a vital and ever-expanding3 role in establishing and maintaining Georgia as the No. 1 state in the country for business;4 and5 WHEREAS, Albany-Dougherty County is known for its innovative small businesses; Marine6 Corps Logistics Base Albany; Marine Corps Logistics Command; global industries including7 Procter & Gamble, Molson Coors, Mars Wrigley Confectionery, Georgia Pacific, Thrush8 Aircraft, and ThermaCare-brand products; attractions and growing tourism industry; outdoor9 recreational opportunities; natural resources; world-class health care; and educational10 institutions; and11 WHEREAS, the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce, founded in 1910, is leading a12 multi-year strategic effort to advance economic opportunities. With a diverse business13 community in its corner, the Albany Area Chamber works diligently to serve area businesses,14 develop strategies that help the community prosper, and design the path of Albany's future;15 and16 H. R. 914 - 1 - 24 LC 112 1947 WHEREAS, the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce connects, convenes, collaborates, 17 leverages the power of partnerships for the benefit of Albany and Southwest Georgia, and18 leads with character and competency; and19 WHEREAS, together with its Albany Area Chamber Foundation, employers, and educational20 partners, the chamber is creating a modern, adaptive, and competitive talent pipeline.21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that22 the members of this body congratulate the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce on 114 years23 of excellence in serving the economic hub of Southwest Georgia and advocating for the24 Albany Area's interests as well as recognize January 30, 2024, as Albany-Dougherty County25 Day at the state capitol.26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized27 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the28 Albany Area Chamber of Commerce.29 H.
