77 Recognizing and commending the Greater Augusta's Interfaith Coalition; and for other

1010 WHEREAS, the Greater Augusta's Interfaith Coalition's mission is to strive for 100 percent3
1111 citizen participation in the democratic system of informed voting, support for the disabled,4
1212 care for the earth, and support for social activism; and5
1313 WHEREAS, in 1998, Reverend Christopher G. Johnson, Reverend Doctor C. William Joyner6
1414 Jr., and Brother William Gilyard gave birth to what is now the Greater Augusta's Interfaith7
1515 Coalition, a powerful tool in the pragmatic approach to providing technical assistance and8
1616 information to the religious and sacred community; and9
1717 WHEREAS, the coalition's objective is to present an academic, intentional, pragmatic,10
1818 reflective, scholarly, and theological discourse of religion and its influence, implication, and11
1919 involvement in society as a community service organization; and12
2020 WHEREAS, the Greater Augusta's Interfaith Coalition celebrates religious freedom by13
2121 championing individual rights, promoting policies that protect both religion and democracy,14 23 LC 127 0131

2424 and uniting diverse voices to challenge extremism and complacency in the central Savannah

2626 regional area and beyond; and16
2727 WHEREAS, this outstanding organization has established numerous initiatives and programs17
2828 designed to benefit Georgia's communities, including Educate-to-Vaccinate Now, which18
2929 served to dispel COVID-19 misinformation and vaccine myths, and the Young Voters19
3030 Initiatives; and20
3131 WHEREAS, in 2022, the Greater Augusta's Interfaith Coalition continued to serve as a21
3232 champion of citizen participation and public engagement; and22
3333 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable coalition be appropriately23
3434 honored.24
3535 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body25
3636 recognize and commend the Greater Augusta's Interfaith Coalition for its many exemplary26
3737 contributions on behalf of the citizens of this state and extend their most sincere best wishes27
3838 for continued health and happiness.28
3939 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed29
4040 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Greater30
4141 Augusta's Interfaith Coalition.31
