| 10 | 10 | | with the passing of Charles Elliot Thornton; and3 |

| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Charles Elliot Thornton was born on June 24, 1975, a beloved son of Otha4 |

| 12 | 12 | | Edward Thornton Sr. and Estelle Jones Thornton; and5 |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United6 |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | States Army, valiantly and courageously protecting his fellow Americans as a combat medic7 |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and special operations noncommissioned officer; and 8 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Charles Elliot Thornton was an active member9 |

| 17 | 17 | | of the Renaissance Church of Christ; and10 |

| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, he further served his community as a mentor of young men, and through his11 |

| 19 | 19 | | organization Elberton's Promise, he gave youth in Elberton's middle and high schools the12 |

| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife, Elisa, and was blessed with five |

| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern16 |

| 27 | 27 | | for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his17 |

| 28 | 28 | | family and friends were admired by others; and18 |

| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation19 |

| 30 | 30 | | for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he20 |

| 32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Charles Elliot Thornton will long be22 |

| 35 | 35 | | NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body25 |
