88 WHEREAS, the Atlanta Vibe is Atlanta's premier professional women's indoor volleyball3
99 team and a founding member of the Pro Volleyball Federation; and 4
1010 WHEREAS, volleyball, the number one team sport for girls in the United States, holds a5
1111 world record in attendance, with an impressive 92,003 attendees in Omaha, the venue for6

1313 WHEREAS, the team's official introduction to the city was held on August 4, 2023, at8
1414 Atlantic Station, where more than 500 attendees, including VIPs, local business leaders,9
1515 and influential civic figures, were a part of the official induction of the Atlanta Vibe into10
1616 the city's thriving sports scene; and11
1717 WHEREAS, the decision to bring professional volleyball to Atlanta was rooted in a desire12
1818 to contribute to the city's monumental professional sports landscape and provide a13
1919 platform for world-class women's indoor volleyball athletes. Colleen Craig, a prominent14

2626 WHEREAS, Colleen Craig's impressive background, which includes being a dual-sport18
2727 Division 1 athlete, an alumna of Harvard Business School, and a tenured professional in19
2828 healthcare and finance, positioned her to become the first ever female majority owner in20

3030 WHEREAS, the significance of the team's name, lies in its representation of the city's22
3131 energy, culture, and collective personality. The name was chosen through a city-wide23
3232 naming contest, emphasizing community engagement and building a brand that resonated24
3333 with the team's fan base; and25
3434 WHEREAS, the team's brand identity, including the primary colors of red and ice blue26
3535 and the intricately designed logo, reflects the integration of traditional and contemporary27
3636 elements, symbolizing the synergy between the Vibe and the City of Atlanta; and28
3737 WHEREAS, the franchise is one of the pioneering teams in the inaugural season of the29
3838 Pro Volleyball Federation, having recruited renowned head coach Todd Dagenais, signing30
3939 the Pro Volleyball Federation's first-ever athlete signed to a contract, Leah Edmond, and31
4040 assembling a globally talented roster to underscore the team's commitment to excellence32
4141 in their pursuit to capturing the first Pro Volleyball Federation championship; and33
4242 WHEREAS, the team's participation in the Pro Volleyball Federation aligns with the34
4343 league's mission to elevate the status of professional volleyball in North America,35
4444 offering competitive play, livable wages for players, and top-notch facilities.36

4747 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this

4949 body recognize and commend the Atlanta Vibe professional women's indoor volleyball38
5050 team for contributing to the city's monumental professional sports landscape and39
5151 providing a platform for world-class women's indoor volleyball athletes.40
5252 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed41
5353 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Atlanta42
5454 Vibe professional women's indoor volleyball team.43
