| 8 | 8 | | with the passing of Melody Michelle Coburn on January 1, 2024; and3 |

| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Melody Michelle Coburn was born in Brooklyn, New York, on October 12,4 |

| 10 | 10 | | 1980, to Evondale and Juanita Muñoz Coburn; and5 |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, the daughter of a veteran, Melody spent most of her formative years in6 |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Hinesville, Georgia, where she graduated from Bradwell Institute; and7 |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, she pursued a Bachelor of Science at Savannah State University where she8 |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | majored in Business Administration and was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and9 |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | continued on to receive her master's in Human Resources Management from the University10 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | of Phoenix; and11 |

| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, she worked as a higher education professional for over a decade and was most12 |

| 18 | 18 | | recently employed by Georgia State University; and13 |

| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, she was an avid fitness enthusiast who in recent years became a fitness coach, |

| 23 | 23 | | a transformative bodybuilding competitor, and known to many, affectionately, as Coach15 |

| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Melody Coburn was dedicated at Grace17 |

| 26 | 26 | | United Methodist Church in Brooklyn in 1981 and baptized at First Calvary Missionary18 |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Baptist Church in Hinesville in 2000; and19 |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, she gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern20 |

| 29 | 29 | | for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding she demonstrated to21 |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | her family and friends were admired by others; and22 |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation23 |

| 32 | 32 | | for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example she made of her life,24 |

| 33 | 33 | | she made this world a better place in which to live; and25 |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous woman, Melody Coburn will long be26 |

| 35 | 35 | | remembered for her love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who27 |

| 36 | 36 | | had the great fortune of knowing her.28 |

| 37 | 37 | | NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body29 |

| 38 | 38 | | join in honoring the life and memory of Melody Michelle Coburn and express their deepest30 |

| 39 | 39 | | and most sincere regret at her passing.31 |
