24 LC 112 2048 Senate Resolution 567 By: Senator Davenport of the 44th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Christine Lowe Glass; and for other purposes. 1 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia continues to mourn the loss of one of its most distinguished2 citizens with the passing of Christine Lowe Glass on January 7, 2023; and3 WHEREAS, Christine Lowe Glass was born on October 11, 1934, in Atlanta, Georgia, a4 beloved daughter of K.C. Lowe and Thelma Le Jackson Lowe; and5 WHEREAS, known affectionately as "Silky Smooth," she was a lifetime member of Smooth6 Ashlar Grand Lodge, actively participating for more than 47 years as part of all the female7 departments and receiving numerous accolades; and8 WHEREAS, she further served her community with dedication, contributing more than 259 years to vocational rehabilitation, and maintained an active role in civic responsibilities10 including contributions to various ministries and community clubs; and11 WHEREAS, she was honored with the United States Presidential Volunteer Lifetime Service12 Award by President Joe Biden in October 2022 and was nominated for Miss 2023 Queens13 of Pink; and14 S. R. 567 - 1 - 24 LC 112 2048 WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Christine Lowe Glass was an active 15 member of First Corinth Baptist Church for more than 56 years; and16 WHEREAS, she was united in love and marriage to her husband, Charles, and was blessed17 with three remarkable daughters, Patricia, Thelma, and Sharon; 13 wonderful grandchildren;18 23 exceptional great-grandchildren; and three magnificent great-great-grandchildren; and19 WHEREAS, she gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern20 for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding she demonstrated to21 her family and friends were admired by others; and22 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous woman, Christine Lowe Glass will long be23 remembered for her love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who24 had the great fortune of knowing her.25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body26 join in honoring the life and memory of Christine Lowe Glass and express their deepest and27 most sincere regret at her passing.28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed29 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of30 Christine Lowe Glass.31 S.
