1212 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that, except as3
1313 otherwise provided by this resolution or by subsequent resolution of the General Assembly,4
1414 meetings of the 2023 regular session of the General Assembly during the period of Monday,5
1515 January 9, 2023, through Wednesday, March 29, 2023, shall be held in accordance with the6

6464 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the meetings of the General Assembly shall be held as51
6565 prescribed in Code Section 28-1-2 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, except as52
6666 otherwise provided by this resolution. The hours for convening and adjourning the House53
6767 of Representatives for each legislative day may be as ordered by the House; and the hours54
6868 for convening and adjourning the Senate for each legislative day may be as ordered by the55
6969 Senate. Each house, upon its own adjournment for a legislative day, shall remain in a period56
7070 of adjournment until it convenes for the next legislative day.57
7171 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that on and after the latest legislative day specified above,58
7272 the schedule for meetings of the 2023 regular session may be as provided by another59
7373 resolution of the General Assembly adopted subsequent to the adoption of this resolution.60

7575 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that whenever, due to an emergency or disaster, resulting62
7676 from manmade or natural causes or enemy attack, it becomes imprudent, inexpedient, or63
7777 impossible to conduct the affairs of the General Assembly at the State Capitol in Atlanta,64
7878 Fulton County, and the Governor has by proclamation declared an emergency temporary65 23 LC 34 5861

8181 location or locations for the seat of government in accordance with Code Section 38-3-52,

8383 the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President of the Senate may, by joint67
8484 agreement, order the discontinuation of the schedule for meetings provided by this resolution68
8585 and provide for reconvening the House and the Senate at such temporary location or69
8686 locations in accordance with Code Sections 38-3-52 and 38-3-53 on such date and at such70
8787 time as they deem practical.71
8888 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that whenever, due to an emergency or disaster, resulting72
8989 from manmade or natural causes or enemy attack, it becomes imprudent, inexpedient, or73
9090 impossible to conduct the affairs of the General Assembly at the State Capitol in Atlanta,74
9191 Fulton County, but the Governor has not by proclamation declared an emergency temporary75
9292 location or locations for the seat of government in accordance with the above, the Speaker76
9393 of the House of Representatives and the President of the Senate may, by joint agreement,77
9494 order the discontinuation of the schedule for meetings provided by this resolution and78
9595 provide for reconvening the House and the Senate at the State Capitol in Atlanta, Fulton79
9696 County, on such date and at such time as they deem practical.80
9797 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, in any case of emergency or disaster resulting in the81
9898 discontinuation of the schedule for meetings as authorized by this resolution, the Speaker of82
9999 the House of Representatives and the President of the Senate shall provide for prompt notice83
100100 of the same to all members of the House of Representatives and all members of the Senate,84
101101 respectively, by such means as such officers deem practical and efficient; and each house85
102102 shall be and remain in adjournment until convening for the next legislative day on the date86
103103 certain jointly specified by such officers. Following such reconvening, the General87
104104 Assembly may provide by joint resolution for a new schedule for meetings and88

108108 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, as to any case of emergency or disaster resulting in the

110110 discontinuation of the schedule for meetings as authorized by this resolution, the adoption91
111111 of this resolution by the General Assembly shall constitute the consent of both the House of92
112112 Representatives and the Senate for purposes of Article III, Section IV, Paragraph I(b) of the93
113113 Constitution.94
