66 Recognizing Hemophilia of Georgia; and for other purposes.

88 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia is a nationally and internationally recognized nonprofit2
99 based in Sandy Springs that provides services and support to Georgians who have3
1010 hemophilia, von Willebrand Disease, and other inherited bleeding disorders; and4
1111 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia began its work in 1973; and5
1212 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia continues to meet its goal to help those who have6
1313 bleeding disorders live as normally and productively as possible; and7
1414 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia also serves as a member of the World Federation of8
1515 Hemophilia, enhancing the health and wellness of the bleeding disorder community by9
1616 providing comprehensive health care, education, advocacy, and support of research; and10
1717 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia is in receipt of six-star status by the National11
1818 Hemophilia Foundation and is recognized as a Chapter of Excellence; and12

2121 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia employs numerous professionals, including

2323 pharmacists, nurses, and social workers, to provide critical services to its clients; and14
2424 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia provides specialized pharmacy services, outreach15
2525 nursing services, social support services, clinic and research funding, information,16
2626 educational services, and activities and programs to enhance care and quality of life for17
2727 people with bleeding disorders and their families; and18
2828 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia's specialty pharmacies have dual accreditation from the19
2929 Accreditation Commission for Health Care, Incorporated (ACHC) and the Utilization20
3030 Review Accreditation Commission, Incorporated (URAC), demonstrating a commitment to21
3131 high-quality standards of care; and22
3232 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia provides children with inherited bleeding disorders the23
3333 ability to live more normal lives, including opportunities to attend summer camp at Camp24
3434 Wannaklot; and25
3535 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia publishes an award-winning newsletter for its clients26
3636 and their families to educate them on advances in treatment; produces protocols for the27
3737 treatment of Hemophilia and von Willebrand Disease for physicians and other health care28
3838 providers; offers financial support for hemophilia treatment centers throughout Georgia to29
3939 ensure that they are fully staffed and equipped; and invests in critical research for inherited30
4040 bleeding disorders and their associated complications; and31
4141 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia partners with many entities, including St. Jude32
4242 Children's Research Hospital and the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Emory33

4545 University, for research to find a cure for hemophilia and to help end the bleeding disorders

4747 affecting citizens; and 35
4848 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia is a trusted resource to many health care providers and36
4949 insurers providing training on bleeding disorders, including appropriate care and treatment.37
5050 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body38
5151 extend a warm greeting to Hemophilia of Georgia, its staff and volunteers, and the persons39
5252 that the organization serves and convey to them this legislative body's heartiest40
5353 commendation for their work on behalf of those individuals with hemophilia and other41
5454 inherited bleeding disorders in this state, throughout our nation, and around the world.42
5555 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed43
5656 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Hemophilia of44
5757 Georgia.45
