A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life and memory of Walter Marvin Metze; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2
with the passing of Walter Marvin Metze on November 13, 2022; and3
WHEREAS, Walter Marvin Metze was born on December 30, 1929, in Batesburg, South4
Carolina, a beloved son of Mr. And Mrs. Allen Metze; and5
WHEREAS, he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United6
States Army, valiantly and courageously protecting his fellow Americans during the Korean7
War until his honorable discharge in 1959; and8
WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Walter Marvin Metze was an active member9
of Friendship Baptist Church who served on several auxiliaries; and10
WHEREAS, Walter Marvin Metze undertook several business ventures that proved11
themselves to be fruitful, and he left behind an impeccable legacy for his family and his12

WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife, Marie, and was blessed with two
14
remarkable children, Walter Jr. And Viveca; and15
WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern16
for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his17
family and friends were admired by others; and18
WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation19
for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he20
made this world a better place in which to live; and21
WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Walter Marvin Metze will long be22
remembered for his love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who23
had the great fortune of knowing him.24
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body25
join in honoring the life and memory of Walter Marvin Metze and express their deepest and26
most sincere regret at his passing.27
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed28
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of29
Walter Marvin Metze.30
