| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2 |

| 11 | 11 | | with the passing of Walter Marvin Metze on November 13, 2022; and3 |

| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Walter Marvin Metze was born on December 30, 1929, in Batesburg, South4 |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Carolina, a beloved son of Mr. And Mrs. Allen Metze; and5 |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United6 |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | States Army, valiantly and courageously protecting his fellow Americans during the Korean7 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | War until his honorable discharge in 1959; and8 |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Walter Marvin Metze was an active member9 |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | of Friendship Baptist Church who served on several auxiliaries; and10 |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Walter Marvin Metze undertook several business ventures that proved11 |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | themselves to be fruitful, and he left behind an impeccable legacy for his family and his12 |
|---|

| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife, Marie, and was blessed with two |

| 26 | 26 | | remarkable children, Walter Jr. And Viveca; and15 |

| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern16 |

| 28 | 28 | | for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his17 |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | family and friends were admired by others; and18 |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation19 |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he20 |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | made this world a better place in which to live; and21 |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Walter Marvin Metze will long be22 |

| 34 | 34 | | remembered for his love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who23 |

| 35 | 35 | | had the great fortune of knowing him.24 |

| 36 | 36 | | NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body25 |

| 37 | 37 | | join in honoring the life and memory of Walter Marvin Metze and express their deepest and26 |

| 38 | 38 | | most sincere regret at his passing.27 |

| 39 | 39 | | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed28 |
