88 Honoring the life and memory of Walter Marvin Metze; and for other purposes.

1010 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2
1111 with the passing of Walter Marvin Metze on November 13, 2022; and3
1212 WHEREAS, Walter Marvin Metze was born on December 30, 1929, in Batesburg, South4
1313 Carolina, a beloved son of Mr. And Mrs. Allen Metze; and5
1414 WHEREAS, he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United6
1515 States Army, valiantly and courageously protecting his fellow Americans during the Korean7
1616 War until his honorable discharge in 1959; and8
1717 WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Walter Marvin Metze was an active member9
1818 of Friendship Baptist Church who served on several auxiliaries; and10
1919 WHEREAS, Walter Marvin Metze undertook several business ventures that proved11
2020 themselves to be fruitful, and he left behind an impeccable legacy for his family and his12

2424 WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife, Marie, and was blessed with two

2626 remarkable children, Walter Jr. And Viveca; and15
2727 WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern16
2828 for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his17
2929 family and friends were admired by others; and18
3030 WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation19
3131 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he20
3232 made this world a better place in which to live; and21
3333 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Walter Marvin Metze will long be22
3434 remembered for his love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who23
3535 had the great fortune of knowing him.24
3636 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body25
3737 join in honoring the life and memory of Walter Marvin Metze and express their deepest and26
3838 most sincere regret at his passing.27
3939 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed28
4040 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of29
4141 Walter Marvin Metze.30
