1515 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1616 AN ACT
1717 To amend Title 16 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to crimes and

1919 offenses, so as to establish the offense of traveling to meet a minor for indecent purposes; to2
2020 provide penalties; to provide for related matters; to provide for a short title; to repeal3
2121 conflicting laws; and for other purposes.4
2222 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:5
2323 SECTION 1.6
2424 This Act shall be known and may be cited as the "Interstate Sexual Predator Prevention Act."7
2525 SECTION 2.8
2626 Title 16 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to crimes and offenses, is9
2727 amended by adding a new Code section to read as follows:10
2828 "16-6-4.1.

3030 (a) A person commits the offense of traveling to meet a child for indecent purposes when12
3131 such person travels any distance into this state from outside this state, or causes another13
3232 person to do so, for the purpose of contacting any child under the age of 16 years, or with14
3333 a person believed to be a child under the age of 16 years, to:15

3636 (1) Solicit, entice, or commit any act of child molestation or other indecent act; or16
3737 (2) Solicit or entice any parent, guardian, or other lawful custodian of any child, or to17
3838 solicit or entice any person believed to be a parent, guardian, or other lawful custodian18
3939 of any child, to consent to or otherwise allow the participation of any child in any act of19
4040 child molestation or other indecent act.20
4141 (b)(1) Any person convicted of violating paragraph (1) of subsection (a) of this Code21
4242 section shall be guilty of a felony and shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than22
4343 two years nor more than ten years and shall be subject to the sentencing and punishment23
4444 provisions of Code Sections 17-10-6.2 and 17-10-7.24
4545 (2) Any person convicted of violating paragraph (2) of subsection (a) of this Code25
4646 section shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than one year nor more than ten26
4747 years.27
4848 (3) Any person convicted of violating this Code section shall be subject to the provisions28
4949 of Code Section 42-1-12."29
5050 SECTION 3.30
5151 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.31
